Our Materials repreve

Our swimwear is made of Repreve recycled polyester fabric which is a sustainable and eco-friendly choice for fashion.

Made from recycled plastic bottles, it helps to reduce plastic waste, conserve water, and reduce energy consumption. It is known for its softness, durability, and versatility, making it a preferred choice for fashion brands that prioritize sustainability.

What is Repreve fabric?

This fabric is made using a proprietary process that transforms post-consumer recycled plastic bottles into high-quality polyester fibers, which are then used to create a wide range of fabrics.

Environmental Benefits of Repreve fabric:

One of the significant environmental benefits of Repreve fabric is its ability to divert plastic waste from landfills and oceans. Plastic bottles, which are typically made from non-biodegradable materials like PET (polyethylene terephthalate), can take hundreds of years to decompose, posing a serious threat to the environment. By recycling these bottles into Repreve fabric, the need for new virgin polyester production is reduced, resulting in less demand for fossil fuels and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Another environmental benefit of Repreve fabric is its potential to conserve water. The production of virgin polyester requires significant amounts of water for the extraction of crude oil and the manufacturing process. In contrast, recycling plastic bottles into Repreve fabric requires significantly less water, conserving this precious natural resource.

Furthermore, Repreve fabric helps to reduce energy consumption. The production of virgin polyester requires the extraction and refinement of crude oil, which is an energy-intensive process. In contrast, the production of Repreve fabric requires less energy as it utilizes recycled materials. This helps to reduce the overall carbon footprint associated with the textile industry.

Our swim lining is also made of recycled nylon which is lightweight, soft, certified eco-friendly, certified recycled, UV protection and high chlorine resistant. The fabric also preserves color very well so our swim garments will keep its true color for years to come.

Our swim fabric is certified GRS, OEKO-TEX, and Higg Index, and Global Recycled Standard.

Tencell Modal

Modal fabric is a type of rayon made from beech tree pulp. It is an eco-friendly choice for clothing due to the sustainable and renewable nature of the beech tree plantations. Modal requires less water and land to produce than cotton and uses less energy during manufacturing.

Additionally, it is 100% biodegradable and can be recycled. Modal fabric is known for its softness, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties, making it a comfortable and functional choice for clothing.

Overall, choosing modal fabric can have a positive impact on the environment by reducing resource usage and waste. It also lasts longer than cotton garments and it does not require dry cleaning, which adds to its eco-friendly properties.

It is the fabric of choice for our pajamas. The inspiration came from my son Collin who wanted the softest pajamas that is also eco-friendly and I think we delivered on it!

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is grown using methods that prioritize sustainability and environmental health. Unlike conventional cotton, it is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, which can harm the soil, water, and surrounding ecosystems. Organic cotton farming also prioritizes water conservation, crop rotation, and soil health, which can lead to increased biodiversity and healthier ecosystems. Additionally, the production of organic cotton typically requires less water and energy than conventional cotton production, reducing its carbon footprint. Finally, organic cotton is often processed using environmentally friendly methods, such as natural dyes and non-toxic chemicals. Overall, choosing organic cotton over other fabrics can have a positive impact on the environment and help reduce the harmful effects of conventional cotton farming.

Bamboo Viscose

Bamboo viscose fabric is used in all of our pajamas for that super soft feel, great for kids with excema or skin sensitiviities. Bamboo viscose is a textile material made from bamboo pulp that has been chemically treated to create a soft and silky material. It is an eco-friendly alternative to conventional fabrics like cotton, polyester, or rayon, as bamboo is a highly renewable resource that grows faster than other trees and plants and requires fewer pesticides and fertilizers to cultivate. Moreover, the production process of bamboo viscose fabric involves a closed-loop system that recycles water and chemicals, minimizing waste and pollution. Bamboo viscose fabric is also biodegradable, meaning that it can decompose naturally without releasing harmful chemicals into the environment, making it an excellent choice for sustainable fashion and textile manufacturing.
